Untitled (please don’t break my heart) 2007
Card, superglue, wooden dowel
Let’s get personal. Since my early twenties (and possibly a few years before), whether in a relationship or not, I’ve imagined that any long hours I put into something, any extra effort I exert, any reason I turn down social situations for essentially work on my own terms was to make myself better, stronger, more capable for whomever it is I end up with for a big part of my life.
More than a few times I got a bit too wrapped up with hoping it’d be one person forever, which lead(s) to impossible expectations and frustration when it’s clear that nothing actually lasts forever. I’m seeing someone now, but I still don’t know who I’ll be spending the next couple decades with. Anyone who says “if this is working now, it’ll work forever” is a fool. I’ve been that fool many times, but at least I’m getting closer to finding that person every step of the way.
I imagine that every one of these stupid things I type will be another in the long history of things to show them while they try to list off all the things they’ve done to show me. Because, duh, they’re just as crazy and digging that tunnel toward me from the opposite side, and we’re both getting better all the time.
So that’s what I thought of as soon as I saw this picture.

101009-2 - CREATURE
Taking photos for fun and profit continues to be quite enjoyable.
Note: the finger lettering tattoos are real.
I do pretty well at this stuff. Jonny is on the left in that photo. His bride, Ally, will appear in other photos also with Jonny.
Tomorrow morning we’re moving and my list of to-do items just to get set up and in a regular daily schedule is incredibly long. Many things in life will be changing and I’ve spent far too much time planning better habits for myself. In hopefully less than a couple weeks the Jacques Wedding gallery will be processed and we’ll continue to push forward into this world of exchanging my abilities for appropriate amounts of currency.

It feels so good to be working in color photos again and not feel obliged to focus on color.
My photo from May 27 at I Make Photos Daily- “Excess makes the heart grow fonder” as an example of ‘wheels’ for today’s Tumblr pic pick.
