Aphex Twin - “Xtal” (4:54)
Here’s some quiet ambient music from a couple decades ago that should make your night a bit more relaxed.
A couple decades ago? Holy crap I feel old.

The Cure - “Let’s Go to Bed” (3:34)
The tune has been in my head all day since I heard it playing loudly on someone’s headphones in the train. Doo-doo-doo-doo…

Diamond Rings - “Wait & See” (3:37)
Remember before when I told you about Diamond Rings? This is a reminder. Seriously, folks, I’ve got the best taste in music.
In unrelated news (apart from maybe the theme of the song), some of my foggy Lake Arrowhead CA photos are likely to appear in the June edition Tepsic Magazine. These are photos that I haven’t published or released elsewhere yet.
The Cure - “Never Enough” (4:29)
For the next few minutes, you’re seventeen, dancing, and life is awesome.

Andrew W.K. - “Into the Clear” (1:33)
That’s right, an epic in under two minutes. Time to get the party started.

INXS - “Need You Tonight” (3:01)
This song is a t-shirt slogan machine (and I like it):
“The 21st Century is yesterday”
“You’re one of my kind”
“Can’t think at all”

Jay-Z - “On To the Next One” (4:17)
The only Swizz-produced track to make the album, and the chopped beat has been in my mind for at least 24 hours now.
I think The Blueprint 3 got some flack because it’s Jay-Z repeating the same album for the third time (find the hottest producers and tell the world how you’re living). I don’t mind at all. I’m a sucker for production effort, and this album has tons of it.
Talking Heads - “Girlfriend is Better” (5:06)
A busy day, and a good old favorite to make the day better.

The Jesus and Mary Chain - “Just Like Honey” (3:04)
“Moving up and so alive”
Lightspeed Champion - “Sweetheart” (4:39)
from Life is Sweet! Nice to Meet You. Starts off pretty slow then breaks into what I love starting around the three minute mark.
You’re allowed to play this one over and over if you like.

Voxtrot - “Stephen” (3:27)
“But I miss reaching for the lasers…”
If you haven’t heard of Voxtrot, here is my guide to the best experience:

The Magnetic Fields - “All the Umbrellas in London” (3:19)
Andrew W.K. - “Ready to Die” (2:55)
Not from the song, but a quote- case and emphasis as original,
“Why are you pretending that today doesn’t matter? Do not ignore it! IT MATTERS! What are we trying to prove? These are the actual DAYS OF OUR LIVES! YOU ARE LIVING YOUR LIFE TODAY! Everything you are doing, saying, and thinking! This is not a temporary time that we can mess around with! This is the whole thing! What are you going to do with it? What are you going to do in this crucial moment? This is serious! This is no exaggeration! It sounds dramatic and extreme? THIS IS EXTREME!!! This is THE day! This is TODAY! We have never been given today before! We hold it all in our hands! Go find a calendar and look at the date - whatever day it is, realize this: this day will never come again! There will never be another one of today! It is a one shot deal! What are you doing with it? What are you doing with your life? What are you doing TO your life? Imagine what other people would do with your life! Why do we waste our energy on stupid problems that mean nothing? Why do we waste it? Imagine what someone would give if they could live just one day in your life! How are you treating your life? Do even more! Take your starting point and push past it! Find something that is really hard and that you don’t think you’ll ever be able to accomplish - better yet, find something that will benefit more things and people than just you, and devote yourself to it! And don’t give up!”
93 days.
The Smiths - “What She Said” (2:42)
No music today that is less than 20 years old. This track is 25.
Good Shoes - “The Way My Heart Beats” (just over 2 minutes long)
This is the first track off of the new Good Shoes album, No Hope, No Future. The British may never invent a form of music before the United States, but they sure do perfect the genre once they get ahold of it.
I will also admit that it took me a while to like them. It might take a while for you, as well. If you dig this track you might also like “Never Meant to Hurt You” off of their previous album. Lightspeed Champion also did a great cover of it.
