Hey Tumblr, I hope your Tuesday is going well.
Remember: HAVE FUN / PARTY / NEVER LET DOWN / NEVER LET UP
Andrew W.K. - “She is Beautiful”
Favorite. Always.
From Andrew W.K.’s website (2002):
“I was in Los Angeles and I went to this party where there were a lot of people. There was one girl that I saw who made me stop talking and walking. […] But I was too afraid to talk to her or say anything to her. It made me angry later and I wrote those words to try to make me do better next time. I Ain’t Got Nothing To Loose, Going To Throw It Away And Talk To You - in life, all you have to lose is the chance to live more - throw away all my fears and doubts and pride and worries and take a risk.”
Andrew WK at the Pawn Shop last night (click for the set).
Andrew W.K. - “I Was Born to Love You” (Freddie Mercury cover) (3:29)
YouTube has the extended Freddie Mercury version (ignore the video).

Andrew W.K. - “Not Going to Bed” (2:57)
“If I can use my freedom to go against my will, then I will use my freedom- you can bet I will!”

Some of Andrew at MaxFunCon. The whole talk was an hour long, but thankfully Zach has removed enough as to not share all the secrets.
Andrew W.K. - “Into the Clear” (1:33)
That’s right, an epic in under two minutes. Time to get the party started.

(The above is an advertisement, but an entertaining one.)
Also: Thems some dirty jeans.
I’ve had the Close Calls album since 2006 when it was released in Japan/Korea, and it’s definitely not a Rock album. For some thing that is now 3-4 years old, it still holds up for the most part, but there’s a wide range of genres used within it.
It’ll be great to get the double CD and see if my photography has been used in the booklet.
Andrew W.K. - “Ready to Die” (2:55)
Not from the song, but a quote- case and emphasis as original,
“Why are you pretending that today doesn’t matter? Do not ignore it! IT MATTERS! What are we trying to prove? These are the actual DAYS OF OUR LIVES! YOU ARE LIVING YOUR LIFE TODAY! Everything you are doing, saying, and thinking! This is not a temporary time that we can mess around with! This is the whole thing! What are you going to do with it? What are you going to do in this crucial moment? This is serious! This is no exaggeration! It sounds dramatic and extreme? THIS IS EXTREME!!! This is THE day! This is TODAY! We have never been given today before! We hold it all in our hands! Go find a calendar and look at the date - whatever day it is, realize this: this day will never come again! There will never be another one of today! It is a one shot deal! What are you doing with it? What are you doing with your life? What are you doing TO your life? Imagine what other people would do with your life! Why do we waste our energy on stupid problems that mean nothing? Why do we waste it? Imagine what someone would give if they could live just one day in your life! How are you treating your life? Do even more! Take your starting point and push past it! Find something that is really hard and that you don’t think you’ll ever be able to accomplish - better yet, find something that will benefit more things and people than just you, and devote yourself to it! And don’t give up!”
93 days.
Here’s a new meme for you that I’m too lazy to draw up in Illustrator. I checked and it appears that this one hasn’t been made yet.
Here it is
“Are you partying hard?” Branches to:
You’re welcome.
If you don’t particularly care for awesome things, you can skip this post. Simply, if you want to feel great about life, you’re a fan of Andrew W.K.
All of them.
It’s more or less been known for a few years but it’s finally been announced, by the man himself, that Andrew W.K. is more or less a construct. I’ll leave you to follow the link and actually watch the videos/interview linked within it to find out the details.
I’ve met the man, I’ve shaken his hand and we’ve all hugged. The point, I feel, is that regardless of who ‘is’ Andrew W.K. I don’t see any harm in his positive message or the spirit that he fills people with. It wasn’t like I told the people in the photo above “Okay, now pose like it’s the last supper and AWK is Jesus,” it’s just what happens.
I’ll see him again at MaxFunCon in approximately four months. I will thank him for his kind words about my photographs, and I will thank him for helping to push what I feel Maximum Fun is about- sharing time and space with people over things that make you feel better. Remember, it’s not “Sort of Fun,” and it’s sure not “Kind of Fun”.
It’s a shame he has to generally age (or does he?). It’d be pretty cool in my books to have AWK stay the same general age/personality for all generations. Many actors, one role. To tell generations “Andrew W.K. will always be there to help you party hard when you have doubts” is about as close to faith and belief that I want to get.
(update: there’s been clarification that AWK is in fact only one man, but his spirit is that of many men. His level of inspiration is infinite.)
