It was said by Gord Downie of the Tragically Hip in an old interview which I haven’t been able to find for years that there are two kinds of albums, “brood and bloom.” Their new album came out today, and while I’m happy I paid for it, it’s definitely a brood album. Not Day For Night dark, but this will never be mistaken for a happy album. I’ve listened through it a couple times, and I only hear a couple singles, which is fine by me.
This is an early runner-up for my favorite track on the album. The verse starting with “You rode out of view” is my favorite part of the song, but only because I figure we’ve all got some story like that.
My favorite so far is “Love is a First” but I’ll post that tomorrow if I can remember.
