Congrats, Houston! Sexual orientation doesn’t indicate suitable leadership, but removing orientation as a social barrier ensures a larger pool of potentially suitable leaders in all elections.
Formerly Portland was the largest US city with an openly gay mayor, and is the 29th largest city by population along with having a famously free view of life. Houston is the 4th largest city in the US and typically isn’t seen as being in as friendly a state (both socially or geographically). Way to go!
