Smashing Pumpkins - “Stand Inside Your Love” (lyrics)
A longtime favorite, the Pumpkins pretty much ruled my headphones from late 1993 and all the way through 2000. Seeing them live the day after my 18th birthday was a real treat. That tour was pretty much the end of the road for the band, and I was invited to the show by my friend Trevor, who I’d known since elementary school.
This track is far better than its video, and I’ve always liked the lyrics- they’re a bit bent but I think they still remain incredibly positive. The section of “who wouldn’t be the one you love and live for?” is something I’m sure is part of all relationships, the part where it’s just so clear why everyone on earth would, does, or should love the person in question. The period where they just give off glowing light.
The swap between “for the last time” and “for the first time” for verses always sticks in my mind as well.
