And this has got me thinking that, though I’ve got 17 years of experience in this industry, maybe I’m not actually in this industry. Maybe I’m just a hobbyist. A poseur.

I shrugged. Katie, as usual, is right: I am a genius and a visionary the likes of which the world has only rarely ever seen. I want you to go read this. Like Ben, I think many modern online creators are finding they’re in an industry that has a valuation that’s difficult to measure, but thankfully also has no direct competition: making interesting things for yourself, and for others.
There will always be 18-20 year olds for fluffy press stories looking to pretend that everyone is creating the next big thing. These stories are sensational, at best, and almost always horse shit. However, there will also always be far more people to make smile and delight with one’s work, and that’s what Ben does. And what I will keep attempting to do. An industry with no upper limit on value, joy, or good will.
